If you are planning on buying a digital camera, it is important to make sure you know the differences in flash cards. Flash cards are the memory of your digital cameras. Compact flash cards are one of the oldest forms of memory for digital cameras. While professional digital cameras still use compact flash, most consumer digital cameras now use SD memory which is the size of a stamp and holds lots of memory. Most SD memory cards usually hold from 512 MB to 2 GB.
XD cards are similar to SD cards except they are only used for a select few digital cameras. The other type of memory for digital cards is flash stick memory. Flash stick memory is only used in Sony digital cameras. No other digital camera company creates cameras that use this form of memory. Practically all types of digital camera memory is extremely reliable due to the lack of moving parts, however if you are looking to get the most use out of your digital camera, you should look to use SD memory because it is usually the most affordable and most popular among digital camera manufacturers.
