Subwoofers are omni directional meaning that the sound waves will travel all over the room without being pointed in a specific direction. You can place your subwoofer anywhere in the room and still get a great affect. Most people place their subwoofer near a corner where two walls meet for extra resonance. Subwoofers are very important to a home theater set up. If you enjoy big, thunderous explosions or like percussion on your CD audio tracks, subwoofers are the devices you need to deliver big sound. If you are looking to add oomph to your home theater system, look into purchasing a subwoofer.
