Home Audio Receivers
Thinking about this topic? You have come to the right place for all the information possible.
One of the most important parts of your home audio system is your receiver. A home audio receiver is the brains of your entire home audio set up. If you want to create the perfect home audio system, start first with the receiver, here are some tips.
A home audio receiver is not only the brains of any home audio system, it is also the power plant. Most home audio receivers include hook ups for all your audio components such as CD player, DVD player, turntable and VCR. They also include hook ups for your speakers. If you have a home theater audio receiver, your receiver will include speaker inputs for a front right and left speaker, a center channel speaker, sub woofer and rear channel speakers.
Besides all the power and speaker hookups, most audio receivers also include an FM/AM tuner and include audio setting such as DSP modes, equalizer and tone, treble and bass setting positions.
Most home audio systems are usually sold to consumers by how many watts per channel they have. There are two different measurements RMS and Max. RMS is the average loudness of a system. It literally means root mean square, which just confuses most consumers. The Max measurement is how much power a receiver can deliver for a short amount of time, usually a few seconds. Usually the Max is about 100% more powerful than the RMS rating.
