Allergic Reactions to Cosmetics » health

One of the many allergic reactions that people suffer from are allergic reactions to cosmetics. An allergic reaction is an immune system response to a foreign particle invading the body. Many times the body produces histamines to fight particles that invade the body even though they do not cause harm. Histamines can cause many side affects, in the case of allergic reactions, this may be rashes, itching and scratching, shortness of breath or dizziness.

If you have suffered in the past from allergic reactions from cosmetics, it is always best to discontinue use immediately. While most allergic reactions are mild or moderate, there are some people that can have severe allergic reactions that can cause harm.

If you use cosmetics on a daily basis, look for cosmetics that are hypoallergenic. These types of cosmetics have been tested to make sure that people do not suffer from allergies, or that common allergic triggers are not used in the product. You can find plenty of hypoallergenic cosmetics in most fine stores.

If you are suffering from a mild or moderate allergic reaction from cosmetics, it is best to use an anti histamine such as Benadryl, Sudafed or Actifed. These products can reduce the majority of symptoms you are experiencing. If your allergic reactions are severe, it is always best to consult with a physician or health professional immediately.
