Halloween is a great holiday, unfortunately there are many things that can make Halloween unsafe, here are some common sense tips to make sure everyone has a good time. 1. Always have an adult chaperone your children while they go trick or treating. You should not let your children knock on strangers doors without the supervision of an adult. 2. Make sure your children cross the street safely. Make sure your children take off their masks when crossing and have them wear some reflective clothing. Many children have limited vision when wearing a mask and crossing a street can be dangerous. 3. Inspect the candy that children receive from trick or treating. Not only is it a good idea to remove any candy that looks damaged or not fresh, sometimes some types of candy are not appropriate for children. For instance sucking candies for smaller children. 4. Make sure your child wears his costume correctly. You don’t want your child tripping all over the place, unable to see or have difficulty breathing. Make sure you inspect the costume and make sure it fits properly. 5. Keep track of your children. With so many events going on, you may have some of your children at a school function while others are at a Halloween party. Make sure you plan accordingly and have contact information in case you need to get in touch with them.
