The Rose is possibly the most popular flower and for many the most aesthetically pleasing. Not only is the rose extremely beautiful but also has a very pleasurable odor which is a main ingredient in many perfumes, soaps, lotions, potpourri, etc.

Roses come in over 100 different varieties and their stems can vary in length from about 10 inches to over 30 inches. Most Rose blooms last from 4 to 7 days and then many people leave them to dry and used as dried flowers in arrangements that can last for many years to come.

If you have received cut roses as a gift, it is important to keep them away from direct sunlight and any heat source. Although planted roses enjoy direct sunlight, cut roses will only deteriorate quicker in the sun and near a heat source.

If you have received cut flowers and would like them to last longer make sure to cut any stem that is growing underneath the water. The problem lies with bacteria that will grow in the water and deteriorate the rose quicker. Sometimes you will notice the water turning yellow; this means that bacteria are present. You should remove the water and put fresh water into the vase or planter so that the roses last as long as possible.
