Azaleas

Thinking about this topic? You have come to the right place for all the information possible.

Azaleas » gardening

Azaleas are a popular perennial that comes in a variety colors and can be grown in a variety of climates. These flowers are usually planted in the late autumn due to their blossoms in the early spring. Their beautiful green leaves stay intact throughout the season. Azaleas are part of the Rhododendron family.

Most people buy these plants for their yard or garden and transplant them in the early spring months. They are usually either transplanted from burlap or a container. You should take extra care when transplanting, due to the fact that they might suffer from shock.

These plants do well in acidic soils. Usually they grow the best with soil that has an acidic level of about 4 to 6 ph balance. If your soil is not that acidic use either peat moss or leaves to make the soil more acidic. Drainage is also important for these plants, so make sure you don’t over water them or have them in an area with poor drainage. The only time when it is important to water them a lot is when they are first planted due to their short roots. Keeping these plants well maintained throughout the year will help them be hardy and bloom early in the spring time.
