The New Zune at electronics reports

Look out iPod, Microsoft has created a great new mp3 player that goes above and beyond the latest iPod incarnation. The new Zune is powered by Microsoft software and will include great features such as large LCD screen, lots of storage space and wifi capability to transfer songs from one device to another.

For many people, the allure of the iPod has worn off and they are now looking for products that are different than what everyone else has in their pockets. One of the ways that the new Zune is trying to reach out to people looking for additional features than the iPod offers is by adding wifi capability. iPod’s and iTunes are very selective on how you can share your music. For instance, iTunes has DRM which stands for digital rights management. You can easily play your iTunes downloaded songs on your iPod, but you can’t burn your music to a CD or can’t share it with others. The new Zune however does allow you to share your music with others via wifi capability.

Price wise, the new Zune will be competitive and according to analysts it will be some time before it is known whether the new Zune will steal any market share away from the iPod.
