If you are thinking about buying any big ticket or moderate ticket electronics, it is important to make sure your purchase lasts. Electronics can be very finicky and can work one minute and have glitches the next. If you are planning on making a purchase, look into an extended warranty.
Extended warranties come in two varieties, a manufacturers warranty and a store warranty. Most manufacturers warranty their products for specific amounts of time. Usually from 30 days to one year or more. Manufacturer warranties usually cover the product from workmanship and defects. If your product is dropped accidentally, your manufacturer warranty usually doesn’t cover it. In addition, you are responsible for sending the product back to the manufacturer and paying for shipping and handling. Many times manufacturer warranties have the choice of replacing the product with a new one or just replacing a part in the product. It is usually up to the manufacturers discretion.
For store bought extended warranties, you the consumer usually have better protection than a manufacturer’s warranty. Most store extended warranties, will give you a new product or fix your product in a certain amount of time. You also have more protection. Some warranties cover you from accidents. An example is dropping a laptop computer. No matter what product you intend to buy, look if the product comes with an extended warranty.
