Making copies of DVD’s is perfectly legal. If you own the DVD in question and want to create a copy to either save in safe keeping, carry with you when you travel, etc, you are not breaking any laws.
There are many tools that you can use to make a copy of DVD’s from CopyDVD to 1Click DVD Software. Most of these programs are very affordable and cost less than $100. Many cost less than $50. You can usually make a copy of a full length DVD in about 1 hour or less. If you have important home videos, you can usually copy these types of files in less than 15 minutes.
For Hollywood DVD’s, it may take longer for you to make a full length copy due to the fact that many Hollywood DVD’s are created on dual layer DVDS and are usually 8 to 9 gigabytes in length. In order to make a copy of these DVD’s, you must first shrink the file to a manageable 4.4 gigabytes and then copy it onto a single layer DVD.
