Fill in the blank tests are tests that ask you to fill in a term or keyword for a specific statement or question. You will need to know the terms and be able to recall them from memory. Fill in the blank tests require more study time for students and more time from instructors to correct and grade.
Essay tests require a student to write an answer to a question or to give their opinion. Essay tests require a student to think critically and be persuasive in the written word. Essays are usually the most difficult and time consuming tests to take, they are also very difficult to grade.
