Pomeranian » dogs

Pomeranians are fluffy toy dogs. They have small faces and have fluffy hair surrounding their face and body. They kind of resemble pom poms. They only come in solid colors, most notably orange, white, black, blue and brown. They have black eyes and a small nose. These dogs usually weigh less than 8 pounds and are about 8 to 12 inches in height.

The Pomeranian is an extremely active and spunky breed. They make excellent guard dogs and bark at almost every intruder. In fact, sometimes they don’t stop barking once the intruder comes into a home. They should be trained early and socialized to live with children, other dogs and pets. They are extremely willful and headstrong. They need strict training, however don’t overdue it. They are perfect for apartment living and get plenty of exercise indoors.

These dogs do well with children, but don’t like to be annoyed too often. They make good companions, but don’t expect them to be lap dogs; they like to do their own things. Pomeranians are generally a healthy breed, but require health maintenance regularly. They do lose their teeth at an early age and this can present problems. They should have a soft food diet. Their life expectancy is usually 15 years old.
