This article aims at providing you with all the necessary information so that you can understand more about it.

German Pointer » dogs

The German Pointer is a well proportioned breed with an athletic build, a rather long nose, big eyes and loyal, stable personality. These dogs were bred to accompany a hunter on the field and love the outdoors, however, they are also very family oriented and love to be with humans as much as possible.

These dogs usually weigh about 45 to 60 pounds and are about 23 to 25 inches in height. Their coats are short and smooth. The color of the coats come in either solid liver or liver and white. Usually their tails are docked so that they can sit on them.

The German pointer is truly a great family pet, they do great with children, other dogs and even other pets. They are loyal, loving and very affectionate. They like to be with their owners as much as possible and shouldn’t be left alone on a regular basis. They do well in an apartment, as long as they get regular exercise. They are easy to train, due to their intelligence, but do not need to be taught too firmly or sternly. They can become nervous.

While they are a relatively healthy breed, they do require health maintenance and have a few hereditary health problems. Most German Pointers have a life expectancy of about 12 to 15 years.
