English Setter » dogs

The English Setter is a tall, elegant and beautiful dog. The most unique feature about this dog is its spots. Spots can be in various sizes and shapes around the body. The coat of the dog is usually white with either blue, brown, red, or tri colored spots. They are very interesting to look at and are a great breed as well. Most English Setters are about 24 to 27 inches in height and weigh about 55 to 85 pounds.

These dogs are extremely friendly, gentle and fun to be around. They make good watch dogs but their bark is definitely bigger than their bite. They are mostly laid back and enjoy others and are curious about strangers. They are perfect as a family pet and do well with children. They are also good with other dogs.

When training an English Setter, they require a gentle touch, they can become very upset with a firm and stern trainer and prove too difficult to housebreak. These dogs are generally healthy and love to be active. They aren’t good for apartment living and require a yard so that they can play, dig and enjoy roaming around. If you are looking for a great family pet and have a medium to large size yard, the English Setter is a great breed to look into.
