They are usually tan or yellow in color but can be black, white and albino. They have beautiful eyes that range from yellow to orange. They have round ears and a short coat.

These dogs are not pets, but a few have been domesticated. They should never be trusted with children or with domesticated dogs or animals. These dogs are considered wild pack dogs. They are the only breed of dog that chooses its mate for life. They are very family oriented and guard their pups very determinately.

They are extremely hardy and are great small game hunters. They usually hunt alone or with a few other family dogs at night. They need large areas to hunt and do not like to be in small quarters. They are extremely hardy and can live to be over 20 years old.
