The Chinook is a sled dog that loves to work and that has a compact and strong body that has plenty of energy and stamina. Chinooks are outdoor dogs and live to work. They are not good for an apartment or family living. These dogs enjoy work in cold environments and with other dogs. The Chinook is a medium to large size dog that has a height of about 20 to 25 inches and weighs from 55 to 70 pounds. These dogs come in a tan or golden color.

While these dogs do very well in extremely cold climates, they also can live in warmer climates. They have extremely even keeled temperaments and should be non aggressive and rather friendly.
