The Boxer is a large size dog that is very athletic, compact and fun to be around. They are generally happy dogs with strong legs, short, shiny coat and a large black nose and dark eyes. The coat comes in many different colors including black, brown, tan, etc, except for white. These dogs are usually about 22 to 25 inches tall and weigh about 60 to 70 pounds.
The Boxer is a great dog for a family pet; they are loyal, affectionate, very smart and easy to train. These dogs are good with children and other dogs, however beware of other animals especially rabbits, hamsters and birds. They usually need to be socialized at a young age to be with the family cat.
While this dog does well with plenty of activity, it can easily live in an apartment. They are very smart and easy to train, but can be willful at times. Boxers do well with human contact and they are good as watch dogs, because they are so loyal to the family.
While generally healthy, they do require regular check ups and can suffer from heart problems and allergies. The Boxer usually lives for about 11 to 14 years and is relatively easy to groom due to its short and shiny coat.
