The Bohemian Shepherd is an extraordinary shepherd breed. They are mid size and usually come in many colors, but mostly black with other colors mixed in. The dog has a strong fur coat that protects it from the weather and the coat is long in length. The under coat is usually very soft. This dog is well proportioned and has pointy ears and beautiful dark eyes. The Bohemian Shepherd usually weighs about 35 to 55 pounds and is about 20 to 22 inches in height. It is considered medium sized. Even though they have a long and furry coat, grooming is usually very easy and does not require lots of work.
The Bohemian Shepherd is very bright and has one of the best temperaments. These dogs are extremely stable and never get nervous. They are perfect for a family pet and are great workers, even as guides. They do require some activity and having children around is a great way to give them attention and play with them. They are very easy to train and a joy to have around the home.
These dogs are usually very healthy and live about 12 years or more. The Bohemian Shepherd has been bred in the area known as the Czech Republic since the 1300’s.
