The Black Labrador is one of the more popular breeds in America. This dog is extremely cheerful, athletic, friendly and loyal. They are extremely easy to please and can be trained fairly easily. They are quite intelligent and can become a man’s best friend in only a few short weeks. The Black Labrador is about 22 to 24 inches in height and weighs about 55 to 70 pounds.
The Black Labrador Retriever is usually black in color, but does come in chocolate brown, and can even come in a yellow hue. The coat is short and this breed does shed. While most Black Labrador Retrievers can do well in an apartment, most of these dogs enjoy a yard and they love water. If you have a pool, take notice, this dog will most likely love to swim in it. This breed does well with children, other dogs and even other types of pets. They are very friendly and don’t usually make good watch dogs.
While generally healthy, make sure you receive your dog from a reputable breeder; some dogs are not bred correctly and will be more prone to certain illnesses. Their life expectancy is usually around 10 to 12 years old.
