Window Repair » do it yourself

Windows are an extremely important part of any home. Many times older windows will crack or chip. If you would like to save money on your energy costs during both the summer and winter months it is important to make sure that your windows are in good condition. Here are some tips.

Many of us don’t notice a broken window until it is too late. Many times, damaged windows will start out slow and break suddenly. It is always a good idea to look at your windows at least every week to make sure they are in good working condition. A broken window can cost more than the cost to replace it in fuel costs.

Sometimes you can repair a window on your own by buying a glass plate and cork or solder. You can usually find step by step instructions on window repair products. If you have a major break, it is usually easier to call in a professional who can install a new window or replace a special insulated pain or molding. Many times you do not need to replace the entire window and just need a minor repair. There are also other quick fixes available at your local home improvement store to seal your windows and to take a band aid approach or temporary fix for your broken window.
