Optical vs. Laser Mice » computers

One of the best innovations in the computer peripheral market has been the switch from manual rubber ball mice to optical mice. Optical mice makes it no longer necessary to keep your mouse’s rubber ball dirt and dust free, plus optical mice are more precise and reliable. However in recent years a new type of mouse has come on the market, it is called Laser mice. These laser mice have even more features than optical mouse, here is some more information.

Laser mice use laser beams that reflect off of the surface and onto a CMOS chip. This chip takes thousands of photos per second to track the speed and direction of the laser. This makes the laser mouse extremely precise, very quick to react and offers the user the best performance above other types of mice.

While a person that uses their computer for word processing or surfing the internet, might not need the extreme performance of a laser mouse, an active gamer can use the mouse to perform better than other performers. While laser mice are more expensive than optical mice, they are still very affordable costing less than $100 in most situations. If you are looking for the best performance possible, switch to the laser mouse.
